Diffusive nonreciprocity and thermal diode

Wave propagation and diffusion in linear materials preserve local reciprocity terms of a symmetric Green's function. For wave propagations, the relation between fields entering leaving system is more relevant than detailed information about inside it. In such cases, global scattering off through several ports important, which defined as transmission channels. When two-port supports nonreciprocal (electromagnetic, acoustic) propagation, it (optical, phonon) diode directly following definition. However, to date no concrete definition or discussion has been made on diffusive processes multiple-port system. It thus remains unclear what are differences relations three concepts, namely, nonreciprocity, effect diffusion. Here, we provide theoretical analysis frequency-domain function define heat system, different setup from that thermal diode. We further prove equivalence transfer with broken steady-state diode, assuming temperature-dependent generation. The validities some typical mechanisms breaking making have discussed. Our results set general background for future studies asymmetric processes.
